Okuden
Apparently according to glenn and kathy both, you do not kagami-bishaku in any of the okuden! You just take it and go.
Or in any of the juuden!
When to do kagamibishaku
Glenn prefers to only do full kagamibishaku once at the beginning of temae. For all others, a brief pause with your right hand steadying the bottom of the hishaku is sufficient.
Skip kagamibishaku from tana (sometimes)
You do not need to do kagamibishaku when taking hishaku from Tana if you have already done kagamibishaku this chaji, and the teishu is the same.
- In practice, this means that if you leave the hishaku after Tana Koicha and you continue later in chaji to do Tana Usucha, you can simply take the hishaku down from tana, atsukai to rehold, and place on futaoki. No need to Kamae / kagamibishaku.
