Walking onto temaedatami
The definition of a koma (or one of them at least) is when the host enters directly onto the temaedatami, not onto another fumikomidatami first.
Mawari-sado
To enter, walk in “naturally”. Your first step onto the tatami should be diagonal, rather than entering perpendicular to the entryway. (Note that this is true for all rooms, not just koma). suzuki
To exit, you should take five steps. suzuki
- Stand on L, then walk backwards with L → R like in Daime.
- L turns to point toward the entry way.
- R to the line, L crossing the threshold.
