How to use
- Without holding the yakan, open the spout with the corner of the chakin.
- Supporting the lower end of the spout, pour.
- Un-hold the yakan. Catch the drip, then close the spout with the chakin and return to the lid.
How to hold the yakan
Many people teach to hold the yakan handle from the side, such that its center of gravity is stable when pouring.
glenn is okay with this when pouring (he prefers not to). However, you should not do this when walking. You should hold the handle by the center (where it’s worn down), and the top of your hand should be flat (like during Sou-sabaki).
