This is my personal preference, and IIRC also Iwama-sensei’s preference. From Midorikai little book transcription, Suzuki-sensei says he has no problem with this way (and Glenn also has no problem with this).
I like that it’s easier for shokyaku to take their sweet, given that holding hashi, you naturally come from an angle.
