From Suzuki Soukei Sensei in Midorikai little book transcription:
Kama orientation in furo:
- If there is a clear front, use that.
- Else, if there is a kao, it goes geza (away from the guest).
- Else, your discretion.
To determine ro positioning, take the furo position and sliiiide it over into the ro. (This means that the kao is facing left).
Some noteworthy kama:
- Kirikake-gama should sit with two pegs in front, as the Kirikake-furo is always positioned with one in the front.
