From Suzuki Soukei Sensei, 2023-04-24-CU-Tankokai-20th:
Karioki
When placing the bowl karioki, ie at the beginning of hira-demae when temporarily placing the bowl to katte, he places it in the same position as during shimai. Tip of the chashaku is tangent to the outer edge of the kinindatami heri (ie 2 mei from the knee line).
This is different from what Glenn Sorei Pereira teaches, which is that karioki is in the center between the knee line and the shikiita, whereas shimai is in the lower position as described above.
From Glenn
Karioki
Again, different from Suzuki-sensei. For karioki, Glenn puts the bowl in the center between your knee line and the shikiita.
Shimai
Same as Suzuki-sensei. Particular notes:
- Bottom tip of chashaku should be tangent to the kinindatami heri (2 mei above knee line)
- Hishaku go should be tangent to the knee line
- Futaoki should be directly under the hishaku fushi
- All of the above (chasen, hishaku, futaoki) should all be in a line
