Like Suzuki-sensei always says...
OYU CHAKIN. SIMPLE. OYU CHAKIN. OYU CHAKIN.

Uses a Goshokago.
From Suzuki-sensei
For the goshokago knot:
- Start with L side down.
- Then double up L, fold up, tie around L with R.
Note
Check with Jamie. IIRC she has detailed photos of how to do this knot.
Also, Suzuki-sensei suggested to look up bunkou musubi as a way to tie this.
Chakinbako, place bottom half turned 90º.
(need to do this again to contextualize this comment)
Chakin: Fold like normal, turn right, fold right under, then smash into box.
Chakin refold, start by holding nigiriconde. It should be correct-side facing up, just turned to the right (ie fukudame is East instead of North). Flip from top to bottom so the fukudame is still on the right, but it’s now facing down. Grab the two easiest corners to take. This should become a big rectangle, not two overlapping triangles. (That’s only for shibori. This is tatami.)
- x, you do this same thing, but the fukudame is pointing left, not right. Did I miswrite this when I took the original notes? ➕ 2023-05-04 ✅ 2024-03-01
- Yes, I miswrote this. In the shikishidate notes, I wrote “fukudame,” but I was actually referring to the opposite side. “East instead of north” can only refer to the opposite end from the fukudame, nothing else is north.
Chakin [sic] kobukusa is normally kinran. Chawan both are donsu. Middle is purple fukusa fabric.
Chashaku, can atsukai 3h when moving usuki kobukusa if needed.
Otsubukuro, fold ears INTO bag. Not down like you do with natsume in Otsubukuro temae.
Kobukusa are open when doing furidashi at the beginning, because it reflects the end when you do need the it that way.
Tateru-toki, L is overhand on chawan as it is when whisking on a hard surface. Kobukusa counts.
Chakinbako lid, open and close like a japanese book. 1h flip in-air atsukai.
Kyaku
Haiken time, guests put chakinbako on the lid to move. Then, when actually viewing dougu:
- Say hello
- Open fukusa from kaichuu
- View chakinbako
- View box lid
- View everything else
