Attempts

  • See Momiji (Okashi) for an attempt on 2025-11-07 that has lots of shaping tips.

Recipe

Make a basic Konashi.

From there, honestly this was just following https://www.instagram.com/reel/CtBlxR4Ox-H/?igshid=MzRlODBiNWFlZA==.

Step 1

Color the konashi green, leaving a small portion of white to add as an accent. Flatten out the green, then add the white and blend the seam thoroughly.

Note: The green should be super vibrant. Also, it’s easy for the white to overtake the green when adding on top. Use just a little bit.

Step 2

Wrap the anko with the white accent on the outside. Flatten somewhat after wrapping, almost like the shape of a Reese’s peanut butter cup (mostly flat on top, but not a perfect cylinder). Make sure the white accent is just present on the bottom.

Step 3

Using the sharp edge of a hera, form four lobes and a stem. (4 big cuts, then one right next to the last). Start from the edge, then push toward the inner center.

Notes: Spacing here is very tricky. Remember that the lower-right-most lobe will only have one cut, and you will form the point from that.

Step 4

Form each lobe to a point. It’s nice to make it curly like a {, rather than a sharp point (like I have in the ones I did).

Note: When you make a point, the flat of the top of lobe will bulge out. Push that down and make it flat.

Step 5

Using a sharp tool, draw out the veins of the leaf. Have them all meet at a point below the center of the leaf, with the stem also meeting at that same point.
