From glenn. If somebody is going to make tea for you as the teishu, you should wipe the bowl for them and leave the chakin in the bowl. They will move the chakin when they sit down.
My thoughts on this:
- It’s nice to clean up your mess after yourself. If they’re going to do a nice thing for you, make it as easy as possible on them.
- It’s rare that we leave a bowl empty for any extended period of time, hence leaving the chakin.
