Higher-ranking dougu should be used with daisu (like sometsuke, seiji). Seto is only for Gyo no Gyo, and that only works because the rest of the dougu is so high-ranking.

If hibashi have a face (tatoeba torigashira), they should face the teishu while in the shakutate, and face the guest while on the tatami.

When you pull the futaoki forward on the ji-ita (furo namely), the kama no futa should be such that it lines up with the edge of the ji-ita.

If you’re using Shin Daisu, you should use rikyugata chuu natsume.

If the daisu doesn’t go from edge to edge (Shin Daisu is big, Take Daisu is small), there should be an odd number of mei on the kyaku side.
