Sou no Shin Gyo

  • General for me, don’t stick fingers into chawan dai eg when cleaning. Do still hold generally the same way by holding deeply with thumb on hand and fingers on dai, but just get the lip of the dai, not all the way in. Otherwise guests can see your fingers “in the hoju”
  • Some questions around
    • Do you place chaire out with left or with right when placing kantsuki
    • Does guest flip shifuku when they return it, or do they return it “wrong”
  • I asked generally about Hoyasan and its place in the world. We have no clues as to its rank and formality etc. Apparently Rikyu’s kaigu had hoya, not Fukinuki. He also says the Rikyu’s Seven Futaoki does not contain Hoya.
  • On my question about how to turn with the chaire to haiken, confirmed. Take with L, then place on L hand with R holding, then turn out, then place down with L
  • At beginning, do rehold into our side side position on the chawan after sitting. Don’t hold the hozuki like when walking.
  • Confirmed that you take chashaku, then fukusa, then hold chashaku nigiriconde while pon’ing
