Everything is done on a nagabon (rectangular tray), and the tray isn’t wiped.
At nakadachi, dougu is moved such that:
Chaire is on center of bon
Chashaku to R of chaire on bon
Chawan in shifuku to L of chaire on bon
Dai to front left of ten-ita (where chaire shifuku usually goes)
Temae pointo’s:
Entire tray is brought down, then things are kiyome’d as-is from the tray.
CHASHAKU IS DONE FIRST!!! THEN CHAIRE!!!
Chaire shifuku goes to front RIGHT and is tied as katatombo (the one you can pull out).
Chawan shifuku goes to BACK LEFT and is folded over opposite (opening is to the right instead of to the left). Knot is done as usual for daikai chaire. Can’t remember the name, the two-wrap then loop that can’t be undone.
Because you have a tray, everything is done from the tray. This includes chasentoshi.
After kiyome’ing chashaku and chaire, the ten-ita is pretty full. It all stays up there, rather than coming back down onto the tray.
Chaire is shin-sabaki at the beginning (opening it up to doubuki) and gyo-sabaki at the end.
Chashaku is… sou-sabaki at the beginning? Certainly sou-sabaki at the end.
Chawan is opened, shifuku folded the other way and tied like daikai then placed behind dai.
Kensui is moved forward, then futaoki is moved to front L of furo.
Open the lid with fukusa (first close, then kobiki, then open). Then take hishaku pull-pull.
Chasentoshi then is… I think as usual? Except it stays on the bon the whole time.
When ready to make tea, chashaku is taken first, then 2h daikai is brought down with chashaku held nigiriconde over the lid like buddha serpent’s staff.
Chaire lid goes to R of chawan like usual for daikai. Bowl is otoshi-komi, 2x tap with fukusa sou-sabaki. Wipe like gyo-no-gyo, ie take under-side and 3x wipe inside, then push-pull-pull and refold from the under-side to wipe 1x more, no pom-pom.
THEN dai comes down (until now, it isn’t used). I think you turn to kyakutsuki with it, then place the bowl on it and turn like daien-no-sou?
Chasentoshi close etc. Chawan does not go back on shifuku. I can’t remember where it goes!
Maybe it’s… dai goes back to the ten-ita after drinking, but then after you finish chasentoshi, you bring the dai down to himado-mae, then place the bowl on it?
Then I THINK dougu comes back down onto the bon, then bon back up to the ten-ita like daien-no-shin.
Then close kama etc. This one is also shin-ni-sou-ari with the hishaku, and also no mizu is added.
Then haiken is requested (o-bon-chuu pls)
Move kensui / futaoki like in shin-no-gyo (can’t remember exactly how it was done, but it’s like that. Same for opening.)
Pull-pull bon down.
Turn with bon to kyakutsuki. Gyo-sabaki and kiyome chaire.
Somehow get both shifuku onto the bon (turn back and forth to take them, I think).
Turn the bon migi-mawari, place it for haiken.
When placed out for haiken, dougu is on the bon ie:
Chaire in center
Chashaku to R
Chaire shifuku lower L
Chawan shifuku upper R
(and guests haiken in that order, using their fukusa following the usual fashion of momide → chaire lid to center → chaire to center → everything else mirroring the position as on the bon.)
To view the bon, flip it over vertically instead of horizontally. Lift it up, then the side closest to you goes up and over to see the bottom.
You don’t have to view it (it’s not even wiped, it’s trash), but ya know
When asking questions, chashaku is asked first!!! Otherwise, order is the same.
