The Urasenke group has had a busy start to the summer, hosting a demonstration for International Tea Day at the Standley Lake Library and a demonstration for The Gallery at Broomfield assisted living community. We served around 50 people in total, and for some of our members, it was their first time getting out and sharing tea like this!
I am always surprised at how invigorating it is to get out and do demonstrations. When we’re packing up your tea room in order to reassemble it somewhere else, running down a checklist to make sure you haven’t forgotten anything, it’s easy to lose sight of why we’re putting in the effort to share tea. When we start presenting though, and we see 20 people who just can’t take their eyes off what is happening in front of them, the only thing on my mind is joy. Sometimes it takes an outsider’s perspective on your practice to remind you just how special it is.
