Loosen up. Too much up and down movement, too tight with fukusa sabaki. Feel free to use your arms more.
Chakin wiping, push deeply with thumb. Should be able to wipe completely without using forefingers at all.
To shibori chakin (ie sou kazari), take outer corner from left and inner corner from right. After shibori, left corner should be down, which will naturally result in a tatami-kae.
Leaving fukusa on mizusashi is indicative of skipping mizutsugi. No relationship to skipping haiken.
She indeed has heard of the cicada tie for leaving fukusa, but doesn’t know it herself. Only 80+ year old people may know, she thinks.
